Senior Process Technologist (w/m)

To realize the growth of our standing organisation we are looking for an experienced, independent, flexible and decisive Senior Process Technologist (w/m)

The BPF is a unique, multipurpose, open-access pilot facility, suitable for testing a wide range of pre-treatment, fermentation and down-stream processing technologies & techniques. Its wide range of assets, know-how and experience enable innovators in the bio-based economy to test, verify and validate their processes on a semi-industrial scale. Because of its high quality standards, the BPF can also be used to produce kg-quantities of material for pre-marketing and application tests at customers and/or preclinical trials (for food or pharma applications). The BPF started in 2012 and is extending their current facilities located in Delft, offering their customers in 2014 a full range of pre-treatment processes for second generation feedstock’s. BPF is an organisation with 25 employees and has the ambition to extend in the coming years to over 30 employees. The BPF is a professional / informal organisation with direct communication lines and offers the possibility for own development and initiatives.

Your challenge

Together with the business development manager and process technologists you ensure a professional and smooth translation of the wishes of our clients into a successful project.

  • You are responsible for the technological quality of the external projects.You translate customer wishes into detailed project proposals for internal and external use and defining project goals on time, scope, risks, quality, costs and benefits. For that you: a) collaborate with the business development manager in defining scope and requirements of new business leads and opportunities, adn b) guide the process technologists and ensure the quality of their work.
  • You prepare final customer reports including technology transfer;
  • You are also responsible for the scientific knowledge level within the BPF with respect to Pre-treatment, Fermentation and Downstream processing;
  • You introduce and gradual implement the project management process in the organization.

Part of your job will be among other:

  • Develop and maintain networks in expertise area (incl. contacts with universities, institutes, suppliers);
  • Continuous improvement of the work processes;
  • Ensuring that all changes of process, technology and procedures are in compliance with the company SHE-Q policy.

Your qualities

  • Minimal level of education WO/PhD preferably on fermentation and DSP. Pre-treatment knowledge is an advantage;
  • Experience within Biotechnology R&D and scale-up processes;
  • At least 10 year work (process technology) experience in the industry;
  • Knowledge of Biotechnological processes and a large network of specialists;
  • Knowledge of Quality systems, such as HACCP, GMP, ISO, Food Hygiene;
  • Proficient in Dutch and English;
  • Your best competences are communication, coaching and leadership, customer focus, judgement, pro-active, planning & organisation, problem analysis and –solving, result orientation and teamwork.
