The Bioprocess Pilot Facility B.V. (BPF), established in 2012 is located at the Biotech Campus Delft,
BPF is a unique, multipurpose, open-access pilot facility, suitable for testing a wide range of pre-treatment, fermentation and down-stream processing technologies.
Its wide range of assets, know-how and industrial experience enable innovators in the bio-based economy to test, verify and validate their processes (Biochemicals, Food and Pharma) on a semi-industrial scale.
Companies like DSM, Corbion, Verdezyne and many more are using the expertise and the facilities of the BPF to scale up their processes and gather information for the industrial scale. BPF is distinguished by its high-quality knowledge, unique techniques and quality.
BPF currently has 33 employees and has the ambition to further grow. The BPF is an informal organization with ample room for development, deployment and initiative.

Your challenge
You transform the company’s strategy for the market into a marketing and sales strategy for new business development.
You develop contacts and maintain relationships with potential major customers, to boost the sales and the implementation of new processes, custom manufacturing orders and other collaborations with industry and research centres that are or will be active in the bio-based economy.
You build up and maintain internal and external networks of relevance for the purpose of the job.
You identify and evaluate competitors, competitive products and services, in order to provide BPF with the appropriate information to enhance its unique selling points and strategy and increase market competitiveness.
In collaboration with (potential) customers and partners you will generate publicity, political and public interest and subsidies for (new) processes.
Frequent traveling to meet with customers is an integral part of the job.
Your qualities
Minimal level of education MSc/PhD in Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering;
At least 10 years commercial experience in business development in the Biotechnology field with a background in process technology (Fermentation and DSP);
Bringing an active wide international network in the field;
Demonstrated track record in negotiating and closing deals ranging from a supply agreement to a multi-year collaboration, preferable in the Biotechnology field;
Relevant business experience working with large and small companies capable of interfacing with senior technical and commercial people;
Experience in a position where innovative thinking and entrepreneurial behaviour has been required;
Ability to maintain good relationships with all departmental heads operations etc. in order to ensure the required levels of customer service;
Your best competences are excellent communication skills, building relationships, customer focus, result orientation and teamwork;
Pro-active leader with hands-on attitude;
Fluent English is a must and preferably speaking Dutch.
